How about it Spence!! The new laydown boat would be perfect! Get Heather Knox to go and meet you there! She'll be in Europe already! Talk to Billy Allen and see if they have room to ship your boats too! haha. While in school is the only time you really get to try these things! Blair Kants went over once, had a great time.

Here is the web site for the "LOBMBC" , the hosting yacht club. <http://www.lobmbc.co.uk/ > Rex King lives near there. The site is on an estuary off the English channel about 50 miles north of London. Apparently it will be a little rougher than what we run in here, but typical for Europe. The new UIM rules regarding integrity, may affect NA entrants, as Cronk and Giles were discussing this, last month in FL, with me doing the metric, and some times French, translations for them. ;D Cronk has a UIM OSY boat in the works, not sure for whom. PS; -strict UIM rules may not allow for the fiddling we do to 102/302 lower units, but stock l/u's are available. And what height do they run?? Bill Giles wants to go, and I may too.

I wish I could go, but school is going to get in the way. I have to take a summer course or two this summer to get everything done on time. However, I have been to England already. It's a great place to visit with so much history.

God help the North American Team!! haha. Be cool if you go with the gang of them Brian!! Be sure to write something up for the newsletter! Heather Knox might still be a candiate if there was a boat/motor available. Use to be CBF would help a driver who wanted go out, but I'm sure that deal is dead.

We should really look into having a Canadian entry at the 'WORLDS' in England. It is not that 'far', or expensive, especially if one considers it a holiday, and they speak a language similar to ours, and some of them even like us. There will certainly be USA entrys [Wartinger, Giles, Allen,..... ] The point is, as in all International competition, is not to win, necessarily, but participate, and represent Canada. Looking at the 2006 CBF hi-points for CSH; -Joey P. won, but he is a yank [but would make a good Canuck], -Mike O is a possibilty, -Abbott has retired, -Eric Armstong is possible, -and Heather or Scott Knox. Spencer can not make it. A good boat is a problem; i]UIM safety compliance, ii]can our hulls run the water they race on?, iii]shipping it over is a cost factor[?] A motor I do not think is an issue, but our 'modified' lower units may not legal, but stock units are available If some one were intersted, we may be able to arrange for a boat over there. So, ....food for thought

Thanks Mike! But I've got enough on my plate right now... and no funds to make the trip over there.
And also... I don't think our boats meet the UIM rules... I think you have to have reenforced thingypits and breakaway or blunt pickles as of this year.
I really hate that part about APBA (and us since we are small enough we have to follow APBA). They make certain rules so that none of the classes can compete on a world level. And they dream up new classes (like FV) when there is something almost identical in UIM. Then a guy could set a world record, not just APBA or CBF. Wish some people would go with the flow sometimes and look at the big picture.

"OSY192" Rex, is this you Whom ever, good to have you posting on this Cdn site If we keep it up we should have some one over there competing A boat is the biggest hurdle, motors are not a problem. In 1961 a Swiss racer came over for the John Ward trophy race, and I was assigned by the CBF to assist him. We lent him a 'Big D' Swift, and he brought his FC Konig twin as luggage. He made the finals out of 80 or so entrys! Would there be any possibilty of borrowing a UIM legal boat , preferably a kneeler, for the OSY400 race? Bill Giles says there will be NO TESTING at that site, until the day of the race. Correct?? regards Brian hendrick
