I can't beleive I'm looking to do this again but........ is there any interest in running the Stock and Mod Nationals at Long Sault this year? I would need volunteers from the Ottawa Valley and TORC club to help pull this off.
I would limit the Nationals to classes with at least 4 registered active boats (in the Office) to qualify for the Nationals.
It would be the same format as before joint sanction 2 days of racing with Saturday being the Nationals and Sunday being a regular day of racing (and also rain date for Nationals)
I need to see some responses on this site and others to see if this is something I want to pursue.... Again the final decision will depend on whether I can get volunteer support from the other Canadian Clubs.....

Sounds great to me. As stated on the CBF site: www.cbfnc.ca/english/forms/sanctionfee2005.pdfCBF gets $300 extra PER CLASS in sanction fees to do this. That is $2400 if there was 8 classes. It should be manditory that CBF use what is required of that money to refurbish the remaining Keikhaefer Trophies. These are very historic trophies for racing in Canada and to see them in the state they are is a discrase to the CBF, the past winners of the trophies, Karl Keikhaefer and family and the future winners of these trophies. I realize it is not the fault of the current CBF that the trophies are like this... they were lost for many years during the low points of racing in Canada and recovered through lots of investigation of current CBF executives. But it is their duty to restore them or else hold them in safe keeping and not award them. Several of them are literally falling to pieces. I'm not even allowed to display the two I won in my house since they are in such bad shape. Andrew Fralick

Bob; -not wanting to throw cold water on your suggestion, but the reality is; i)you wear your heart on your sleeve when it comes to the CBF ii]you would double the entry in any class at Long Sault by offering $300 in prize money/class, than by giving it to the CBF. I just hope we do find the formula to keep it going, as it is my favorite race site in NA. My biggest disappointment over the years is the lack of entrants from Reg 1. With the excellent camping at both LS and Crystal Lake, I have never understood why more people do not do both races in the one week [and this year W'Point for a 3 in 2 !] , but I guess we are all too busy. Waterford draws from Reg.2&3 because of the 'ambiance'. LS is just as nice, if not better! The concept of a three race series in two weeks, held at three of the best race sites in the north-east, with camping and touring when it is cheap and not busy in SEPT, should attract some racers from Reg 4&5. Kids in school is a deterent, but not for all. I bet if the three clubs put up $2500 prize money, paid to the top three in say five popular classes, it would work. Sorta like a fall 'grape-fruit circuit'. {or $500 to any class with more than 24 entrants over the three races?)

Just to clear any confusion, at this time the $300.00 only applies to North American Championships so not an issue for us. The main reason we had trouble drawing boats from Region 1 etc... is Taunton Mass always had their fall race on the same weekend. Even though this was an AOF race it still took away from our race.
I'm hoping that because there is no Tauton race this fall we may get more boats. I was looking for more feedback on the Nationals thing to make a decision, however the response rate is pretty slim to date so not sure what we will do. Still time, and I'm hoping to here from more folks over the next month or so.

I'm trying to get Steve Noury out of new hampshire to come to Long Sault since I'm going to be going to school near East Berne in the fall. This would make it cheaper for me to come. But I'll know more later in regards to him coming.
