There is a test day at Lake Eloida near Brockville ON, on May 6th. I know this date is a problem for us outboard guys because of the swap meet so I'm inquiring about another possible date for the outboard guys to test. If you can't make it to the swap meet and would like to test there give me a call at 613 345 3949 and I can give you directions. The inboards will be there testing so there will be a chase boat and there will also be a chip wagon there on the 6th. I will keep everyone posted on another possible date for a big test date for the outboards at the same location.

Testing? What's that? ;D
I usually have varnish still drying on the way to the first race... haha.
Sounds neat though! Too bad it's the same weekend.
Not that'd I'd be coming (still have holes in my boat), but I'd say you want to be out there before the May long weekend as pleasure boat traffic will go up dramatically I'd think.

Andrew, with this place there is no other boat traffic. A number of years ago there were people that fished there but in the last 2 years I have never seen another boat on the water besides a hydroplane or runabout. I'm going to call the property owner and try to organize a test day for all willing outboard guys, current racers or vintage guys. Hopefully I'll have more info tonight or tomorrow.

Wow sounds great Spencer... so if an inboard can test there... must be big enough for an outboard to race on!

you still have your 20 Spencer? Who else does? Are you open to a test ride in it at Waterford on Friday? No prob if not. I have a couple serious people interested. I was thinking we could get an AOF 20SSH restrictor they use in a novice class. (50-55mph). These are both workers/friends of Proctor Marine (race sponsor). One of them owns 7 race karts and wishes his kid would race boats instead. The kid has some interest, but never been in one.

The lake is plenty big enough for a race. The only hitch is the water is very silty so if anyone goes over in the lake they may need to take a part their engine to clean it all out. there is only about 2 or 3 feet of nice water before the silt starts. The silt is not bottom too, it just hangs there suspended. It's hard to tell how deep the lake really is. It's also a man made lake so there are some stumps on the south end of the lake. But Dave Scott has been juggling the idea of trying to have a race there in the future as there is enough room to race, pit and camp. As for the 20ssh rig, I still have it but I highly doubt I can make it to Waterford on the Friday before sunset. But you are welcome to use it to give that kid a ride on Saturday or Sunday before or after the races. Ross Webster, Tony Halsey, and Tony Belrango all have Y80's also. I think the nbra class would be a great idea since it would allow kids to grow into 20ssh and maybe csh without having to buy new equipment. I think this would be a great class to introduce to CBF if you could make Y80's, Y102's, Y202's, and Y302's all legal and equal in the class

The NBRA (sorry it's not AOF) class is only for the Y80 and restricted OMC... not sure why no 102/302. This would be a great class but we don't even have enough 20's to run...haha.
I think given the amount of stuff going on, there won't be time to do anything on Sat/Sun. I think Ross's are BMH motors now? I think he got too fat for 20! haha. I'll check with them all though. Thanks!

Last thing I heard was that Ross had his Y80 in pieces trying to figure out how to go faster. I think that he thinks he's going slower since i was catching him at Crystal Lake this past year but I am pretty sure I have a good prop and went up and out each run at Crystal Lake, so I was slowly going faster each run that week-end.

Hey guys, I just talked to the owner of the property we test off of and he's pretty open to us coming whenever we want. So for those that are interested suggest a date for us all to meet to test and hopefully we can all agree on a date so we can let Joe know so we can have a chase boat for an outboard test week-end.

I'm not quite sure if I can make it to the swap meet because my father is committed to the test day for the inboards since him and Bert Henderson are starting to organize an inboard race in Brockville for 2007. I'll know more when he gets back from vacation.

Spencer; I will have the new [old] DCH motor ready by then, so u will have a lot of driving to do. I'll go first, so if it blows up its my fault! You should decide the day by WED, based on long range weather, ie; warmer being a higher priority than less rainy. The Rorkes are not going to Standish, so they may come. bh/

I have not ruled out Standish yet.. but I may just want to test and get the Mariner fired up.. I have not done that yet.

Dave

Hi guys, I'm planning on testing Saturday and Sunday, but primarily Saturday. As for the long range forecast, it says 20% chance of showers Saturday and mostly cloudy and 10% chance of showers on Sunday that would be cloudy with sunny breaks. If it rains Saturday then I'd go Sunday and maybe Monday but says 30% chance of showers and cloudy. I'll call work in a week to tell them I'm back school; gotta get that testing done first ;D
